I thought it was nothing, But the constant nagging of a friend had me go to the DR. We cut out a mole on my hand, which was beautiful, but very dangerous. I’m still here. But my uncle, and girlfriend Cory, are not. They died of Cancer.
The scary statistic that 1 in every 29 South African women will be diagnosed with Breast Cancer and in urban areas it’s even higher…1 in every 8. We hope and pray it won’t happen to us but it’s a reality and it’s important to not only raise awareness but go for regular check-ups and do self-examinations. I am inspired by many people, Carrol Boyes is one of them. They stand up, create awareness and believe that this can be beaten. They have designed a special piece of jewellery for this great cause. Proceeds from the sales of this piece are donated to a charity supporting Breast Cancer health awareness, such as CANSA.
In 2013 a classic ribbon shape pendant was lovingly created in honour of this auspicious month. Cast in pewter, the pendant hangs on a silken pink cord and it’s with this pendant that the ‘Carrol Boyes Goes Pink Campaign’ hopes to inspire faith, action and change. You can purchase one of these pendants at any Carrol Boyes store country wide for R435 or visit http://www.carrolboyes.com
Wear this ribbon always, and in the month of October, and join women across South Africa in support of this worthy initiative and be safe in the knowledge that you are making a precious contribution to CANSA and cancer.
We are giving away one of these beautiful Carrol Boyes pendants. To win you need to subscribe to ChocolateFace and send an email to Elana@ChocolateFace.co.za with the subject heading “Carrol Boyes” before the 31 October.

ElanaWine by Elana Afrika-Bredenkamp has won a Gold Award at the 2014 Michelangelo Wine Awards. The annual event was hosted in Cape Town this week and saw ElanaWine win Gold in the Shiraz category.
Elana Afrika-Bredenkamp launched ElanaWine, a 2012 shiraz, earlier this year along with co-winemaker Rudi Van Waltsleben at the D’Aria estate in Durbanville, Cape Town.
“It’s an honour to call Elana wine… mine. But this voluptuous blend of juice in fact belongs to you. Time allowed me years to decide that I wanted to come back home, to the Cape, to make wine. So delight in every sip. It’s our conversation” – Elana Afrika-Bredenkamp
This sexy handcrafted Shiraz is an expression of quality, style and passion. This is bold and robust wine with its velvety smooth texture reflects the attention to detail in its craftsmanship. A Cosmopolitan of cassis, plums, pepper, spices and dark chocolate shavings are captured in this unique bottle of wine.
No wonder this hand-crafted shiraz created by Elana herself has won gold.
